The Hotel
Perched high on the apex of a hilltop in the stunning Ourika valley, the Kasbah Bab Ourika guards the gateway to the Atlas Mountains. Its name literally means Ourika gateway and it would be hard to find a more picturesque setting in which to stay within the Atlas Mountains. The mountains loom overhead and you can watch the spectacular sunrises and sunsets from the many terraces which offer a 360 degree view. Into the distance you can see the outline of Marrakesh and closer to the Kasbah you will see Berber villages and a traditional way of life in the river valley below.
The Kasbah is the work of an exceptionally nice English owner who goes out of his way to help and to make his guests feel at home. He has built the Kasbah in the traditional Berber way making it environmentally sound without the need for air conditioning and with solar panels to provide electricity for the Kasbah. The Kasbah also supports the local community and a programme has been established for the benefit of local schools and villages.
Set in its own garden with large terraces and stunning views, Kasbah Bab Ourika is the place to come to escape the city, relax and slip into a peaceful world. From the Kasbah it is possible to go skiing, riding, hiking or trekking all within the Ourika Valley. If you'd prefer to relax in the infinity pool and simply watch the day disappear then again this is the right place to do it.
The food is fantastic and is all locally sourced for the more eco conscious guests. The staff are all very friendly and helpful.
The Rooms
The 15 rooms and suites are in keeping with the rest of the Kasbah and are all large with extremely comfortable big beds. All feature open fireplaces for the winter months and some also have sunken baths in which to wallow. All rooms have the fantastic views of the either the mountains or the river valley and room service is available on request.

The Highlights
The highlight here has to be the stunning views of the Atlas Mountains and the Ourika Valley. It is an extremely peaceful place to stay and the staff are wonderfully helpful and friendly.
